Earth Search Sciences, Inc., (ESSI) is a fully reporting public company (“ESSE” – OTC BB) headquartered in Kalispell, MT. The corporation is structured as a holding company with a number of subsidiary companies charged with developing advanced technology applications for the exploration and discovery of natural resources. These technologies are entirely proprietary to the Company and are protected by patents and copyrights. The first two will be used to attain market positions in mineral and oil production, both vital to the survival and growth of America’s long-term industrial leadership.
A. The Technology Tool for Mineral Exploration
The first tool is airborne hyperspectral remote sensing technology. The technology, now proven and patented after a decade of testing, is the result of miniaturizing and improving defense/aerospace technology to allow the equipment to be mounted aboard small, civilian aircraft.
Named the PROBE, the core equipment is a unique optical sensor that delivers calibrated images of the reflected spectral radiance from the Sun in 130 continuous spectral channels (also called bands) with wavelengths from 400 to 3000 nanometres. Extensive data can be collected from flying over vast land areas in a short period of time and recording what the PROBE is “seeing”. Mineral sites are identified with a high probability of significant resource indicators, called “pathfinders”, permitting closer and accurate ground based investigation.
The principle of hyperspectral remote sensing is best understood by visualizing electromagnetic waves from the Sun radiating through space. When the energy encounters an object, even a very tiny one like a molecule of air, one of three reactions occurs:
1. The radiation will either be reflected off the object,
2. Absorbed by the object, or
3. Transmitted through the object.
In remote sensing, we are concerned with reflected radiation which is captured by the ESSI instrument.
The PROBE technology detects the individual reflected features of specific chemical characteristics in a solid, liquid, or gas. Solids can either be crystalline (i.e. mineral) or amorphous (like glass). Every material on the surface of the Earth has the potential for detection.
Earth Search is in the midst of proprietary development for a next generation instrument which will be a technology and results leader within the industry. The new PROBE III will be smaller, faster and less expensive to operate. It will produce better data in real time.
B. The Technology Tool for Recovering Oil from Oil Shale
The second tool to be introduced to world markets is an oil shale gasification process. This technology provides a means to extract oil and gas from oil shale and oil sands in an economic, environmentally acceptable fashion. This technology has the potential to turn around the USA domestic oil production industry and greatly assist Canada in developing new shale areas like those within the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Under the stewardship of General Synfuels International, Inc., a majority owned subsidiary of ESSI, the ‘in situ’ process will be proven in the field in early 2010. A prototype production plant is being constructed in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
The prototype plant consists of 16 conduits drilled in approximately four acres of land with proven oil shale content of averaging 25 gallons of oil per ton. The project will be executed in four phases. The first phase will consist of drilling and installing a proof-of-concept 100 ft. well where production and operating data will be monitored. Immediately after the 100 ft. well Phase II will commence to install a 500 ft. commercial grade well in order to validate production and cost data at a commercially acceptable depth. During the third phase of the project three additional 500 ft. production wells will be linked to the first 500 ft. well with the intention of achieving operational experience with multiple production wells. The fourth and final phase will consist of drilling and installing a complete full scale 16 conduit design commercial prototype plant.
